Update: 11/19/07

The first of our test pours I'm told went very well.  The mixing procedure went incredibly smoothly.  Dr. Moon's lecture was also very useful and informative.  The lecture was recorded and his notes are also available.

Next Mtg. Date: Tuesday, November 20, 2007, 6pm-9pm

Update: 11/14/07

It has been a while since the last update, so this will be all inclusive of the past month and a half.  Mix designs are well into development.  We have 3 mix designs in the works now with 3 more to be used next week.  Thus far, all three mixes are lighter then water thanks to our new aggregate (perlite) - this means no floatation tanks and a boat weight of roughly 150-175 lbs.  On the construction end of things, I have been in talks with Boeing Corporation regarding mold fabrication.  If all goes well, they will be a HUGE help in the development of the molds.  If they are unable to perform the services, we are going to have to bite the bullet and build them ourselves in a similar fashion as last year.  Dr. Moon has also graciously offered his help on the structural analysis and has also agreed to come speak at the meeting this Thursday.  Several new links have also been posted to the Education portion of this site.

Update: 9/30/07

At the last meeting we discussed some of the various things that need to get started for the year.  We have many materials order for the Concrete and we divvied up some of the other various tasks.  Liz will be handling Fundraising in the next week or so, Greg will be looking to talk to some of the classes about recruitment, Practices have commenced, and Greg and Peter will be looking into some Fiberglass places for mold research.  Liz and Michelle will also be looking into various aggregates.  If you are interested in helping in any of these, please speak up.

Update: 8/6/07

A wall mural has been started down in the lab.  We took some of the old nostalgic stuff that was lying around and hung them up on the wall.  It looks decent, but will improve with more stuff acquired.  We still need people to make some phone calls, we're kind of at a stand still until then.

Next Mtg. Date: TBD
Next Mtg. Topic: Secondary Test pour, Mixing/materials details

Update: 7/29/07

The forum has been created and linked on all the pages.  You'll need to sign up to post anything and we would really like to see this used as a primary means of team communication.  A calendar is also built into the forum where we will post meetings, milestones, and other important dated information.

Update: 7/25/07

Test mold for the potential pouring method was a success.  Some further testing will be required, but initial results are incredibly promising (Further detail will be explained at upcoming meetings).  Materials for the Concrete are being looked at this week by a few people who are specifically interested in Concrete Development.  If you are interested in this and did not receive an email from Kyle Jones, email him and inform him of your interest.  Likewise for construction.  If you are interested, email Jeff.
